"Rising Up in the Heartland" Film Screening + Panel Discussion

  • Greenville Museum of Art 802 Evans Street Greenville, NC, 27834 United States (map)

In conjunction with our current exhibition, "The Home I Never Knew: Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá," the Greenville Museum of Art is excited to host a film screening of “Rising Up in the Heartland” (2022). This Emmy-nominated documentary by Federica Narancio, Victoria Bouloubasis, and Anna Clare Spelman captures the struggles among marginalized and undocumented Latino workers in rural Iowa fighting for their lives and livelihoods during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the film screening, we will host a panel discussion and Q&A with filmmaker Victoria Bouloubasis, local organizers Leticia Zavala (El Futuro Es Nuestro) and Yesenia Cuello (NC Field), and artist featured in the exhibition, Andressia Ramirez (NC Justice Center). The panel will be moderated by Flor Herrera-Picasso (Casa Azul de Wilson).

Simultaneous Interpretation services are available for Spanish speakers. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Schedule:
5:30pm - Refreshments
