Spring Break Camp (Ages 6-16)
COLOR & CREATIVITY
GMoA hosts camp during both Spring and Summer breaks. Museum Camp provides a unique and wide arrangement of art activities for children ages 6-16 to explore. Throughout the camp week, students will learn about the different art galleries at GMoA and work with two to four different art instructors to learn multiple art mediums, styles, and techniques through projects, games, and other activities. This spring break camp’s theme is “Color & Creativity”.

Time: Full Day (9am - 4pm), Half Day (9am - 12pm OR 1-4pm)

Summer Camp (Various Age Groups)
GMoA will host 4 weeks of Summer Camp in 2025. Museum Camp provides a unique and wide arrangement of art activities for children ages 6-16 to explore. GMoA will host 2 weeks of Single Day Summer Camps in 2025 with individual registration per day, or a full-week full-day option for the whole week.* See below for dates and themes:

-Monday, June 23 - Prime Painters: explore watercolor and acrylic painting
-Tuesday, June 24 - Clay Constructions: build clay creatures and their habitat
-Wednesday, June 25 - Comic Creation: learn how to create comic books.
-Thursday, June 26 - All Things Pastel: experiment with chalk and oil pastels.
-Friday, June 27 - Fun with Felt: learn the basics of sewing with felt projects.August 4-8: Art Expedition

Visual Arts Academy (Ages 10-14)
Visual Arts Academy (VAA) provides an avenue of development for 5th - 8th grade students in Pitt County who exhibit high aptitude, interest, and skills in the visual arts. Students are mentored by GMoA instructors Debbie Huggins and Kim Lunde, who work with children recommended by their teachers to further their learning within the bounds of the NC Standard Course of Study in the Visual Arts. GMoA facilitates the education, exploration, and application of artistic learning in a guided studio setting.

Teen Draw Series (Ages 13-16)
Teen Draw Series, held at the Greenville Museum of Art Education Building, is a teen drawing and painting class, led by art instructor, Darlene Williams. Students will expand their rendering skills by replicating artworks in the museum’s collection. Students will be able to experiment with multiple types of materials including graphite, charcoal, vine charcoal, paints, and variations of pastels. Prompts will be provided each week to allow students to explore various styles and themes throughout the museum exhibitions. This course is a great way to explore new drawing approaches and help facilitate the creation of drawing portfolios.

S.T.E.A.M Tours (Grades K-12)
Held in partnership with the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences (NCMNS) in Greenville, GMoA and NCMNS offer guided tours of each museum for K-12th grade classes. Students will enjoy hands-on lessons in both science and art. Each group meets at NCMNS in Greenville for a tour of the science museum, and is escorted by foot to GMoA (1 block away) for a tour of the art museum and guided art activity. Enjoy a well-rounded educational experience in downtown Greenville!
