The Greenville Museum of Art is proud to announce the renaming of its South Gallery, The Rachel Maxwell Moore Art Foundation Gallery, in honor and recognition of Rachel Maxwell Moore.  The GMA will celebrate the legacy of Rachel Maxwell Moore by exhibiting the collection of works purchased by her Foundation at an invitation-only Gala Brunch on Sunday, February 26, 2012, as well as a public opening of the exhibition on Monday, February 27 from 6:00 to 8:00. The RMMAF exhibition will run from February 27^th through April 22^nd.

Under the leadership of Rachel Maxwell Moore, a permanent art facility was opened in 1939, and eventually became the Greenville Museum of Art.   In 1963, Ms. Moore established the Rachel Maxwell Moore Art Foundation to continue her legacy of promoting art and culture in Greenville.  Presently, the RMMAF has purchased, either in full or in part, 130 art works for the Museum, valued at more than half a million dollars and representing nearly one quarter of the Museum’s permanent collection.  Greenville Museum of Art days and hours of operation are: Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 to 4:30 and Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 to 4:00.  Admission to the GMA is always free.
