GMA Outreach Programs
The Greenville Museum of Art’s Outreach Programs reaches many members of the community to whom the museum is inaccessible to and attracts a large number of participants from children, ages 6-11 and Seniors 65 and up.
Currently, GMA Outreach instructors Marie Hamra and Gail Ritzer have planned a visual arts unit that integrates poetry. Using Maya Angelou's 1993 Presidential Inaugural Poem, students create a visual interpretation of Angelou's poem, which they will display at the GMA, summer of 2012.
Participates in GMA Outreach programs are seniors from the Senior Centers of the Pitt Council Council on Aging (Farmville, Greenville, Bethal, Grifton and Ayden centers) and students from the Jarvis Church unit of the Boys and Girls Club.
The GMA also participates in a variety of festivals and events through out the year offering free art projects to children. Look for the GMA booth at Pirate Fest, Freeboot Friday, Umbrella Market and the ECU Youth Arts Festival.
